When I arrived on the outskirts of Esfahan long after dark, Ahmad pulled up to me on his motor bike (see picture below), accompanied me through the long roads to the city center, asking cute questions in his basic and unpracticed English, and finally invited me to stay at his place. "His place" is a very small house (basically just one room, divided into two by a curtain, plus bathroom and kitchen) that he shares with his parents, three brothers and one sister. No room even for Ahmad's wife who has to live with her parents! But, while they had little to share in material terms, they were all as warm-hearted as one can imagine.
